Privacy Policy
SportsBot shows you what games are on and where you can watch them. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use the website or the SportsBot app, what we do with it, who else receives it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. Effective October 28, 2026.
- Your account. If you sign up with an email address, we store that address, your password (scrambled with a one-way hash, so we never see or store the password itself), the name you give us, and whether your email has been verified. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, your name, and an account identifier from them instead of a password.
- Your favorites and settings. The teams, leagues, players and collections you follow, the order of your sport tabs, and your preference to hide scores.
- Your TV and streaming services. The services you pick in My Services, so the feed can tell you which games you can watch. Signed in, they are saved to your account. As a guest, they are kept only in a small cookie on your own device and never reach our servers.
- Other things kept on your device. Your sign-in token, your bracket picks, and similar conveniences are stored in your browser or the app on your device. Clearing your browser data or deleting the app removes them.
- Server logs. Like every website, our servers record each request: your IP address, browser or app version, the pages requested, and the time. If something breaks in your browser, the page sends us the error message, the page address, your browser type and screen width so we can fix it.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics, PostHog and Hotjar on the website to understand which pages and features are used and where the site is hard to use. Hotjar may record how a page is scrolled and clicked. These tools set their own cookies and receive your IP address and device information.
We do not collect payment details. We do not sell your personal information.
- To build your feed: the games for your favorites, and which ones you can watch on your services.
- To sign you in, verify your email, and let you reset your password.
- To send account emails (verification and password reset). We do not send marketing email.
- To keep the service working: finding errors, blocking abuse, and measuring load.
- To feed your calendar, if you choose Add to Calendar: your calendar app then fetches a personal feed of your favorites' games from our server. We do not get access to your calendar.
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
We share data only with the companies that help run SportsBot, and only what each one needs:
| Service | What they receive and why |
|---|---|
| Google and Apple | Sign-in. When you choose Sign in with Google or Apple, they confirm who you are and give us your email, name and an account identifier. |
| YouTube and Twitch | Embedded players. When a card shows a highlight, stream or replay, the video plays through their player, which loads from their servers and is governed by their own privacy policies. |
| Hetzner | Hosting. Our servers and database run in Hetzner's data centers. |
| Amazon Web Services | Image storage for team and league logos. No personal information is stored there. |
| New Relic | Server monitoring. Receives request timings and error details from our API so we can spot problems. Never passwords. |
| Google Analytics, PostHog, Hotjar | Usage analytics on the website, as described above. |
| Google (Gmail) | Delivery of account emails such as verification and password reset. |
We also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of SportsBot and its users.
- Account data (email, name, favorites, services, settings) is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you delete the account.
- Server logs and browser error reports are kept for a limited time for security and debugging and then discarded.
- Analytics data is held by the analytics providers under their own retention settings and is not tied to your SportsBot account.
- Data on your device stays until you clear your browser data or delete the app.
Open My Account in the app or on the website and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account, favorites, services, settings and notifications right away. It cannot be undone.
You can also email hello@sportsbot.io from the address on your account and ask us to delete it, or to send you a copy of the information we hold about you. We answer within 30 days.
SportsBot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
When this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. Significant changes are also announced in the app.
